Judy Eileen passed away at the Kaslo Victorian Hospital after a determined struggle with cancer. Her husband of 45 years, Kirby, was by her side.
Many family members stood watch over the past several weeks of her battle, admiring her strength and spirit.
Judy was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba, and lived in Creighton, Saskatchewan, just across the border for most of her younger life. She attended elementary school in Creighton, a small town where everyone watches out for the children and each other. Her high school was located across the border in Flin Flon.
She met Kirby in 1968 in Creighton, and when he left to work in Yellowknife, she followed her heart and moved there also in 1970. They were married there in 1971, and they moved to several places in different provinces and territories in Canada. Their only child, Louise Eileen, was born in Toronto in 1971.
Judy had many and varied interests in her life such as fishing, researching projects like raising worms, sewing (very well), travelling, gardening, networking concepts, and collecting stamps. She enjoyed her work at the Ainsworth Hot Springs and considered all her co-workers her friends.
Her favourite interest was always her family. She was proud of them and loved to be with them.
Judy was predeceased by her father Roy Allan Riehl and her brothers Richard and Perry.
Judy is survived by her husband Kirby Marsh Hawes and their daughter Louise Eileen Chambers (Geoff) and their children, Caleb (Ashley), Cody, Conner, and Cameron. Her mother, Muriel, and brothers Barry (Carol), Dave, and Bob are left to remember her. She has a great grandchild, Taylor, and many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and in-laws across B.C. and Canada.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
In every heart she touched
In every life she changed
in every thought she inspired
her love lives on.
