The Town of Creighton’s Creighton-Prince Albert passenger van service will be back in business soon.

The Creighton Connection service will restart operations July 20, with some conditions.

All passengers will be mandated to wear masks while riding and will need to socially distance within the van.

The service will operate three times a week instead of twice, going from running Mondays and Thursdays to going between Creighton and Prince Albert Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Passengers heading to Saskatoon from Creighton can still take a Creighton Connection van to Prince Albert and connect with an Aurora Charters shuttle to Saskatoon and pay all at once through a Creighton Connection ticket.

The van will leave the Creighton Tourist Bureau at 9 a.m Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, getting to Prince Albert at 2 p.m., then head back to Creighton on the return trip at 3 p.m., arriving at 8 p.m. at the Creighton Petro Canada station. Connections to Saskatoon will also leave at 3 p.m. All times listed are Saskatchewan time.

Plans discussed at previous Creighton town council meetings to expand the route with stops along Highway 106, including at Northern Lights Lodge and Caribou Creek, are not in the service’s official itinerary.

Creighton Connection began in February, aiming to fill the gap in passenger transit between Creighton and Saskatchewan cities left by the 2017 closure of the Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC). About seven weeks after it was introduced, the service was shelved due to COVID-19.

All seats need to be pre-purchased at least one day ahead of time - tickets can be purchased at the Town of Creighton website at townofcreighton.ca, at the Creighton Town Office or by calling (306) 688-8253.
