A pair of drug busts last week at two local houses lead to four arrests and seizures of drugs, weapons and cash.
The first bust took place April 17 at a home on Centennial Crescent, with police officers from several regional and provincial RCMP groups executing a search warrant. On the property, police seized over 100 grams of cocaine, firearms, drug paraphernalia and what RCMP described as “a large amount of Canadian currency”. The RCMP Manitoba North District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST), Manitoba Integrated Law Enforcement Team (MILET) and Flin Flon RCMP conducted the search.
Two people, a 60-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman, were arrested at the scene. Both were later released from police custody with court appearances scheduled for August 8 at Flin Flon Provincial Court. RCMP have not confirmed the identities of the two people arrested or what charges they may be facing.
Later the same day, RCMP conducted a second search warrant, this time on an apartment on Hill Street. Inside, police found and seized over 100 more grams of cocaine, unregulated tobacco and another set of drug paraphernalia, along with more Canadian cash.
Three people inside the apartment were arrested, a 39-year-old man, a 33-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman. The 33-year-old man was later released without charge.
The 39-year-old man, identified by police as Shayne Shatilla, was remanded into custody and faces charges of possession of proceeds of crime and possession for the purpose of trafficking. The 20-year-old woman, who was not identified by police, was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 8 - no charges were listed by police.
None of the charges have yet been proven in court.
