Creighton Recreation and Parks has canceled the Brad Johner concert due to insufficient ticket sales. The rising country music star was booked to perform at the Creighton Sportex on May 15 provided 250 advance tickets were sold. "The interest seemed to be there but the tickets just didn't sell," said Creighton Recreation Director Cindy Davis. "I was really looking forward to it. He has won a lot of country music awards, and I think he would have provided some good entertainment." The original ticket deadline was April 15, but Davis later extended it to April 30. As the deadline approached, only 31 tickets had been sold, so Davis canceled the concert. The concert would have served as a fundraiser for Creighton Recreation and Parks. Davis is looking into trying to bring Johner to the community at a later date but nothing has been confirmed. A veteran of the Canadian country music stage, Johner cleaned up at the 2004 Saskatchewan Country Music Association Awards, where he was named Entertainer of the Year and Top Male Vocalist, among other honours.
