WINNIPEG — Manitoba's police watchdog is investigating a social media video that appears to show an RCMP officer standing on a man's chest during an arrest.

The agency says a citizen filed a complaint with the RCMP regarding the video, taken during an arrest on Mosakahiken Cree Nation on Friday morning.

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba says the video shows two officers using force to arrest a man along Trader's Lake Road in Moose Lake.

RCMP say a fight broke out while responding to a disturbance at a home where it's alleged a 22-year-old man from The Pas assaulted a woman.

Police say officers used a stun gun on the man and put him in handcuffs, but he resisted as three Mounties brought him to an RCMP vehicle.

The head of the watchdog agency says it's in the public interest to investigate the matter and is asking those with information to come forward.
