Three cases now active in Flin Flon health district, 55 active cases in far north east 2 health zone

The Flin Flon health district is back to three active cases of COVID-19, while cases in northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan remain at high levels.

Forty new cases of COVID-19 were reported in northern Manitoba, including 11 new cases in the Thompson area and 16 new cases in the Island Lake district. The remaining cases were spread around the Northern Health Region, with four new cases in the Gillam/Fox Lake and Shamattawa/York Factory/Tataskweyak/Split Lake districts, along with four other cases shown as "unknown district."

The Flin Flon/Snow Lake/Cranberry Portage/Sherridon district is back down to three active cases of COVID-19, one day after reporting a new case of the disease. Exact locations of these cases within the district are not released by regional health officials. More detailed data for cases, recoveries and deaths in the north can be found below.

No new possible public exposures to COVID-19 or outbreaks were reported in the north Friday.

Throughout Manitoba, 110 more people were diagnosed with COVID-19 Friday, with 3,353 people remaining as active cases of the disease. There are 269 Manitobans in hospital as a result of COVID-19, along with 40 people in intensive care.

Since the pandemic began, 838 Manitobans have died due to COVID-19.

Saskatchewan reported another 269 cases of COVID-19 Friday, with 15 of those in the far north east health zone. Four of those cases are listed in the far north east 2 health zone, which includes Creighton, Denare Beach, Pelican Narrows, Sandy Bay and other Saskatchewan communities near Flin Flon. There are currently 55 active cases of COVID-19 within the district, according to the Saskatchewan government.
