A long-time Flin Flon firefighter has received a scholarship to attend a major firefighting conference.

Bradley Davidson has received one of 20 full-paid scholarships from Honeywell and DuPont Kevlar to attend the 2017 Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) in Indianapolis. The scholarship pays for travel and accommodations.

Davidson was surprised and honoured by the scholarship. He said nominations usually come from one’s peers, adding his role as director with the Canadian Volunteer Fire Services Association likely played a part in his being chosen.

Davidson has been a member of the Hudbay Fire Department for 28 years. He previously spent nine years with the Flin Flon Fire Dept.

FDIC, scheduled for April 24 to 29, is the largest North American fire-training event and trade show in the fire service industry.
