The Battlefords North Stars have traded 19 year-old forward Eric Schwabe to the Estevan Bruins for 20 year-old pivot Dylan Dufour. Also involved in the swap is defenseman Mark Vodden, who goes from the Bruin list to that of the Stars and an un-named list player, born in 1987, who heads from Battlefords to Estevan. Schwabe had six goals and seven assists in 14 games with the Stars this season; but left the team and headed home to Moose Jaw over a week ago in seeking a trade. He dressed in last night's 7-6 Bruin overtime loss to the Melville Millionaires. He picked up one assist in playing with Lorne Tytlandsvik and Chris Hammett. Dufour has 10 goals and 10 assists in 23-games with the Bruins this season. He was acquired as the focal point in a deadline deal last January 10th from Melville that saw Cam Breitkreuz go the other way. Vodden scored once and set up two others in twelve games with Estevan in 2002-03. He tried out for Medicine Hat of the WHL at the start of training camp and hasn't looked back in 2003-04. The 19 year-old 6'5" blueliner has one goal and three assists in 17 games with the Tigers.
