The Shoot 'n Score hockey skills camp is taking place this week at the Whitney Forum. Under the direction of Ryan Hoffman, with the assistance of members of the Flin Flon Bombers, players who are staying home for the holidays will have a chance to improve on the basic skills of hockey. Participants have been broken into two groups, based on age and skill level. Each group will have two one-hour ice sessions on December 28, 29 and 30, and a 1.5-hour ice session on December 31. Approximately 30 skaters are taking part in the skills camp, designed to work on improving the basic skills of hockey for players of all ages, using classroom/dry land sessions as well as the on-ice sessions. "We're working on skills in general," said director Ryan Hoffman. "A little bit of skating, puck handling, shooting, and lots of agility stuff. We want to give the guys a little more confidence with the puck." Using games and innovative drills, the camp is designed to ensure that the students are progressing and having fun throughout the week. Hoffman hopes that the camp will provide players with different look than what they see every day in their regular practices.
