This week's MEE SPORTS - SJHL Player of the Week is awarded to 20 year-old Derek Blais of the Flin Flon Bombers. Derek is a 5'10, 190 lb centreman from Debden, Saskatchewan and is the Captain of the Flin Flon Bombers. During the past week Derek led the league with eight points having accumulated two goals and six assists in three games. He had 16 penalty minutes, one power-play goal and one insurance goal. This helped the Bombers win all three of their games this past week and although the Flin Flon Bombers are out of playoffs for this year this gives them a strong finish for the season putting them in 5th place in the Dodge Conference. Away from the rink Derek, who is a 3rd year Bomber, likes to play fastball, go fishing and workout. Derek received a special nomination for Player of the Week by the coaching staff of the Flin Flon Bombers For the season Derek has accumulated 15 goals and 22 assists for 37 points and 251 penalty minutes in 48 games. He has five power-play goals, nine power-play assists, one short handed goal, two short handed assists, one first goal, two first assists, one game winning goal, four game winning assists, one game tying assist, one insurance goal, one insurance assist and one multiple goal game.
