The Norman Wild Midget girl’s hockey team (black) and the Pembina Valley Hawks held a three-game series over the weekend and were able to collect two large boxes of unwrapped toys to be donated to Child and Family Services. The toys will be distributed throughout the region.

The Norman Wild Midget girls’ hockey team travelled to Pembina Valley to take on the Hawks in a three-game series.

More than the games were at stake.

The two teams, along with parents, coaches and fans, all brought unwrapped toys to one of the games.

The two large boxes collected will be donated to Child and Family Services and distributed to children in need throughout the region.

It was an “opportunity to put the crest on the jersey aside and have all the families collaborate for a great single goal,” wrote Sandy Friesen, a parent of a Pembina Valley Hawks player, in a release submitted to The Reminder.

“It was a huge win for happiness for the families that will benefit this holiday season.”

Meagan Yaworski is the lone Flin Flonner on the team.
