The Manitoba Junior Hockey League game slated for Thompson between the Southeast Blades and OCN Blizzard on Friday, February 20th has been cancelled. An official with a group in Thompson that was organizing the game says the Blizzard, who were going to be the home team, were getting backlash from season ticket holders. "I think from the story we have been getting is that season ticket holders in OCN are, already, not happy with some other things," said the committee member (who declined to be identified). "To say we are disappointed is an understatement. We had an agreement with the General Manager and President of the Blizzard. But, just in the last day and a half the reality of the game actually occurring was called into question. Last night (Thursday) it was finally determined that the Blizzard felt it was in their best interests to call it off. Financially, we think this would have been extremely beneficial to the club. We assured them of more money than what they would take in at a regular home game," said the official. Fans that already purchased tickets will be refunded. The organizing group also expresses remorse and thanks to businesses that didn't waste time to jump on board to help in promoting the game. "We are still moving forward to try and get an MJHL team up here," added the official.
