The five-time champion OCN Blizzard won four times in four games during the week ending December 14 to take a five-point overall lead in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. OCN is first in the Sherwood Division with a 30-5-2 record and two overtime losses, for 64 points in 39 games. The Neepawa Natives also won four times in four games and are second in the division, at 23-13-1 and three overtime losses, for 50 points in 40 games. The Swan Valley Stampeders are 21-12-2 and have one overtime loss, for 45 points in 36 games. The Selkirk Steelers won twice in two games, extended their winning streak to nine games and are first in the Addison Division. Selkirk is second overall at 29-8-0 and one overtime loss in 38 games. The Winkler Flyers are second in the division, with 41 points in 36 games. Kiel Wilgosh had one goal and one assist December 8 in OCN's 4-1 win over Swan Valley on home ice in The Pas. Goalie Jonathan Meyer made 31 stops December 12 in OCN's 3-0 win over the Portage Terriers before 1,032 fans in Portage la Prairie. Meyer leads league goalies with a 19-2-2 won-lost-tied record in 1,348 minutes. Veteran goalie Pierre-Olivier Girouard had 33 saves December 13 in OCN's 6-3 win over the Dauphin Kings in Dauphin. Girouard, 20, leads league goalies with a 2.78 goals against average and .920 saves percentage in 863 minutes. Jason Butler had two goals and one assist December 14 in OCN's 7-1 win over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines in Waywayseecappo. Goalie Andrew Loewen made 36 stops December 9 in Neepawa's 5-2 win over Winkler on home ice. Gordon Pritchard had two goals December 10 in Neepawa's 5-3 win over the Winnipeg Saints in Winnipeg. Defenceman Riley Weselowski had two goals and one assist December 12 in Neepawa's 5-4 win over Dauphin on home ice. Weselowski and Scott Wilkinson had two goals each December 14 in Neepawa's 6-1 win over the Saints on home ice. Weselowski was chosen the league's Old Dutch player of the week after leading league scorers with six goals and eight points in four games. Goalie Justin Harris had 21 saves December 12 in Selkirk's 5-0 win over Swan Valley on home ice. Matt Johnson accumulated five assists December 14 in Selkirk's 6-4 win over the Winnipeg South Blues on home ice. Teammate Travis Kornelson contributed two goals and two assists. Jamie Mousseau totalled one goal and three assists December 9 in Dauphin's 5-4 win in Waywayaseecappo. Goalie Matt Neufeld made 33 stops December 14 in Winkler's 4-0 win over Swan Valley on home ice. OCN veteran Aaron Starr continues to lead league and CJAHL scorers. Starr, 20, leads the league and CJAHL with 42 goals and 81 points in 36 games. Michael Young of OCN leads the league with 47 assists in 37 games. Also, Swan Valley head coach Del Pedrick and Winkler head coach Darryl Einarson will coach the Sherwood and Addison Division prospects, respectively, in the league prospects game January 30 in Selkirk. Selkirk and the Saints will play a regular-season game January 7 at the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls, Minn.
