The Creighton Kodiaks will be heading to their third championship game in four years.

The Kodiaks have finished second overall in the league, with a 4-1 record. The high finish means the Kodiaks have punched their ticket to this year’s Northern Saskatchewan six-a-side championship game, to be held Saturday in Prince Albert.

Only the 5-0 Cumberland House Islanders finished with a better record than the Kodiaks. The two teams will face off for the Ralph Pilz Trophy, with the league title and a spot in provincial playoffs on the line.

The Kodiaks headed home with a 49-6 win over the Huskies.

Creighton played their final game of the season Monday against the Senator Myles Venne Huskies in Air Ronge. The Huskies, ranked last in the league before Monday’s meeting, had not scored a single point in their first four games.

Even if the Kodiaks lost, they would still make it to the championship game, having already finished above third-place Sandy Bay in the league’s standings tie-breaker.
