Creighton Kodiak football star Noah Olivier took part in a provincial showcase game last weekend, being part of a win for Team North.
Olivier, a former football standout with Creighton, was a defensive starter with Team North at this year’s Football Saskatchewan Senior Bowl in Saskatoon. Olivier and Team North were the victors in this year’s game, defeating Team South 28-17.
Olivier is the second Kodiaks player to make the provincial seniors’ game, but the first player from the program to make the provincial 12-man team, which is normally reserved for talents from larger schools and teams. With the Kodiaks, Olivier played six-man football only.
With the Kodiaks this past season, Olivier, a Grade 12 student, starred as a defensive back, running back, receiver and returner, tallying up 10 touchdowns by himself on offence, defence and special teams. Olivier was one of the team’s captains en route to an undefeated regular season, the Kodiaks’ fourth league championship and a close shave in a conference game, where Creighton almost became the first northern six-man team to win a conference game against a southern opponent.
Three players from the Kodiaks tried out for the provincial senior bowl team earlier this month in Saskatoon, but ultimately Olivier was the only member of the team to make the cut.
Earlier this season, Olivier made the roster of the Saskatchewan Selects, an American-rules, four-down 11 player team that travels to the U.S. to play other travel teams.
