Hapnot's junior varsity volleyball coach Don Bodnarus held a King of the Gym tournament for the 15 players on his squad on Friday. Players were divided into two teams, and they played 20 minute games. After every game, the teams were switched so that no combination of players was used twice. Every player was awarded points from nine games, and at the end of the night, Shane Pearson and Walker Wintoneak had the highest point totals, emerging as the King of the Gym finalists. The teams played a total of nine 20-minute games, with a break for hot dogs and drinks after the first four games. Coach Bodnarus said that this style of tournament was great for his team, as it gave them a chance to work on things that they learn in practice during a game situation. The first interschool tournament for the boys and girls JV teams will be in Norway House on October 17 and 18.
