Flin Flon’s most talented wrestling brothers have struck again.

At the 2016 Golden Bear High School wrestling tournament in Edmonton, Hunter Lee, 16, earned Gold in the High School Men - 90 kg class.

Not to be outdone, his brother, Carson Lee, 14, took Gold in the High School Men - 68 kg class.

The brothers represented Hapnot Collegiate at the event, held Jan. 30. As the only competitors from Hapnot, they earned the school a tie for second place in the Men’s category.

Hunter said the event was less challenging than the national tournament he entered last year but likely ranked as one of his more difficult high school tourneys.

A Grade 11 student, Hunter bested 27 other wrestlers in his weight class for the honour.

Carson, a Grade 9 student, defeated wrestlers up to three years older than him.

“It was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be, but my first guy was my toughest match,” he said.

Carson topped 35 other wrestlers in his weight class even though he was likely the youngest one in that class.

The tournament involved several hundred teen wrestlers from BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan. The Lee brothers were able to compete because they wrestle with a team out of Saskatoon.
