Hunter Lee’s record in professional mixed martial arts (MMA) remains spotless, with the Flin Flonner getting his second win in as many fights last month.
Lee hit the octagon for his second professional fight June 14 in Toronto, taking part in Unified MMA 57 in Toronto. Lee, fighting in a catchweight bout at 195 pounds, took on Toronto’s Dorjan Dokaj, who entered the bout with four professional wins, one loss and one draw. In his last fight before tacking on Lee, Dokaj submitted his opponent with a guillotine choke in less than 40 seconds.
Lee would prove to be tougher than that, taking the fight the distance - three five-minute rounds, where, with no clear winner on the mat, the decision would go to the judges. All three judges, in a unanimous decision, chose Lee as the winner, moving his record to 2-0 in professional fights.
In his last professional bout, which took place in May 2022 at Unified MMA 44, Lee defeated fellow rookie fighter Kristopher Bryan via a three-round judges’ decision. Bryan has since gone on to win his next three fights.
Including his first fight, his one and only bout under amateur status, Lee has won all three of the times he’s entered the octagon in a sanctioned MMA matchup, fighting as a light heavyweight.
Lee is a decorated amateur wrestler in addition to his fledgling MMA career, currently sitting as an alternate for Team Canada for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Summer Games in Paris. If he is called to compete, Lee would be the first-ever Flin Flonner to take part in a Summer Olympiad.
Lee has a long and wide-ranging list of titles to his name - a bronze medal from junior world championships in 2019, two Canadian university gold medals, a Canada West gold medal, a Canada Games gold medal, silver and bronze medals from junior Pan-American championships. Along with his brother Carson, the Lees formed one of the most dominant duos in Canadian university wrestling history.
Lee won a bronze medal at the Pan Am Games in Brazil last fall, taking part on just two weeks’ notice for Team Canada.
The Flin Flonner was a member of the Univ. of Saskatchewan Huskies wrestling team for four years until graduating in 2022, winning national titles twice in his weight class.
