The Flin Flon Bombers will close out the 2003-04 season with a home-and-home series with the La Ronge Ice Wolves this week. Flin Flon leads the season series with two wins, three ties and one loss. Both teams are playing for pride, as neither can make the playoffs. Tonight, the Bombers will be in La Ronge, where the Ice Wolves won the last meeting between these teams by a score of 5-4 on January 21. Friday will mark the end of the SJHL regular season, as the Bombers host the Ice Wolves at the Whitney Forum. Flin Flon has been the hotter of the two teams lately, as they have won three in a row and five of their last ten games. La Ronge has just two wins in their last ten games, and will finish the season in sixth place in the Dodge Conference, behind the Bombers regardless of the outcome of these final two meetings. Friday's game will mark the end of the junior careers of seven Flin Flon Bombers, including captain Derek Blais, who was chosen as last week's SJHL player of the week. The last Bombers to be recognized for this award were Chris Shaffer in January of 2001, and Lyndon Leard in October of 2000. The other graduating players are Ryan Boak, Joe Gori, Anatoliy Moshkovsky, Derek Gallagher, Jeff LaPointe and Julian Matte. Also on Friday, the Bombers will be auctioning off their home white sweaters in a silent auction. There will be two raffles taking place as well. The first one is for a Royal Bank print and the second is for the Mach 1 Ford Mustang classic car.
