Canada scored on its first two shots to beat Ukraine 10-0 on Monday at the 2004 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Finland. Eight different players have scored for Canada, with Nigel Dawes and captain Daniel Paille counting two each. Ukraine had only seven shots at Canadian goaltender Josh Harding. The Canadians had little difficulty establishing control, with Jeff Carter scoring 33 seconds into the game. Carter tapped home a perfect feed from Brent Burns to put Canada ahead 1-0. Less than a minute later, Mike Richards found Anthony Stewart in front, and he beat Ukraine goalie Yevgeniy Galyuk with a deke to make it 2-0 for Canada. Canada scored six times in the second period, highlighted by Dawes' double and Sidney Crosby's second of the tournament. Jeff Tambellini, Tim Brent and Daniel Paille also scored for Canada. Paille scored the lone goal of the third period to finish the whitewash. Canada is in first place in Group B with a 3-0 record. Canada finishes the round robin portion of the tournament against the Czech Republic on Wednesday (8:30 am et on TSN).
