The Flin Flon Bombers are back from their holiday break and anxious to start the second half of the season. The team resumed regular workouts on Monday, and will be in Nipawin on Friday to take on the Hawks. The Bombers and Hawks will be in Flin Flon on Saturday night for the second half of the weekend double-header. Flin Flon can catch Nipawin for fourth place in the Dodge Conference with two wins this weekend, as they are currently three points behind the Hawks for the final playoff spot. In three games this season against the Hawks, the Bombers have suffered two losses and settled for one tie. For the Bombers, the holiday break couldn't have come at a worse time. The Bombers were 4-2-1 in the month of December. Hopefully the team hasn't built up too much rust during the 12-day layoff. "We're happy with how the first half of the season ended," said coach Ryan Hoffman. "Since December 1, things have gone pretty well. I was a little unhappy to see the break come when it did, because we've been playing pretty well. We want to pick up where we left off. We have four huge games to start the new year with Nipawin and Notre Dame. The January 10 trade deadline is also just around the corner. The Bombers currently have 18 skaters and two goaltenders. They would like to add two more forwards to the mix before the deadline, or possibly one forward and one defenceman. "We would like to add a little more depth," said Hoffman. "If we were able to acquire two forwards, that's probably a move we would make." Action for the Bombers resumes in Nipawin on Friday, before the series returns to the Whitney Forum on Flin Flon on Saturday.
