The body of a woman who was reported missing after picking mushrooms near the Hanson Lake Road has been found.

Lois Chartrand was reported missing to RCMP August 4 after being separated from a companion while mushroom picking near the Hanson Lake Road, about 30 kilometres north of Smeaton.

Following days of searches from ground and air, Chartrand was found dead by searchers August 14, about one kilometre away from where she was last seen.

“Her family has been notified and our thoughts are with them during this difficult time,” reads the announcement of Chartrand’s death by Saskatchewan RCMP.

“Saskatchewan RCMP thanks all the agencies and individuals that assisted in the search for Lois, including Alberta RCMP, Saskatoon Police Service, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, Search and Rescue Saskatchewan Association of Volunteers (SARSAV) Civilian Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA) and Heli Recon. We also thank community members and Lois’s loved ones, who – despite the stressful circumstances – ensured all searchers were fed and supported.”
