July 8, 9:47 pm: A page was received for a structure fire on Tweedsmuir Street. The fire chief, Engine 2 and Engine 1 responded. Upon arrival, fire crews found heavy smoke and light flames coming from the rear roof section of an apartment building. Fire crews entered the structure on the second floor to conduct an aggressive fire attack on the attic fire. After a 45-minute attack, fire crews went into a defensive strategy due to weakened exterior walls and roof collapse. Mutual aid assistance was requested from Creighton Fire Department.
