A Pelican Narrows woman has been charged with murder after the man believed to be her common law husband was fatally stabbed on the Saskatchewan reservation late Monday night. Geraldine Bloomfield, 27, faces one count of second degree murder in the stabbing death of Cameron Ballantyne, 32, also of Pelican Narrows. Emergency services personnel were called to the couple's residence shortly before 1:30 a.m. yesterday, not long before police also responded. Ballantyne succumbed to his injury after receiving medical treatment in the community. Bloomfield has been remanded in custody to appear in Pelican Narrows Provincial Court today. At the time of his death, investigators believe Ballantyne was in a common law relationship with his accused killer. Police are not releasing any further details since this matter is now before the courts.
