Over four months ago, Trevin Steele was found dead in a Flin Flon home, the victim of what police believe was a homicide. Despite a local campaign looking for information, no arrests have yet been made in his death and police have not named any suspects.

Steele’s death, reported to police in May, has not yet been solved and no arrests have been made, said Manitoba RCMP representatives to The Reminder. Requests to Manitoba RCMP for updates on the investigation have not provided updated information, aside from no arrests and no new information being made available publicly.

“RCMP Major Crime Services continues to investigate and no charges have been laid at this time,” reads a statement from Manitoba RCMP.

“The investigators continue to work diligently on this file and want nothing more then to provide answers to his family. If anyone has information on this investigation we urge them to come forward and talk to police.”

"It is our belief that there are members of the community that have information which could assist in this investigation. We are urging anyone with information on Trevin’s death to contact the Flin Flon RCMP Detachment or Crime Stoppers."

RCMP representatives said anyone with information on Steele’s death should contact Flin Flon RCMP at (204) 687-1423 or Manitoba Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800--222-TIPS (1-800-222-8477) or manitobacrimestoppers.com.

The 24-year-old man was last seen alive May 24 in Creighton. On June 2, after a days-long search, Trevin’s body was found in a home in Flin Flon. Police believe he was the victim of a homicide.

Family and friends of Steele have taken out billboards and advertisements calling for anyone with information on Steele’s death to come forward to police, including dozens of homemade posters - most businesses in Flin Flon have at least one poster prominently located, many of which feature an image of Steele’s face.

Yard signs, decals, stickers and other items bearing the hashtag “#JusticeForTrevin” have been produced and shared - a memorial in Steele’s memory has been erected on a power pole at South Main Street and Fifth Avenue in Flin Flon, near the Manitoba/Saskatchewan border.

Last summer, family members of Steele told The Reminder that the information campaign was meant to find any information that could solve Steele’s murder and to ensure he is not forgotten.

“We and the town, we need justice for Trevin. We need that,” said Kevin Steele, Trevin’s father.

“I want the people who did this to know they are not going to get away with it, that this town won't stand for this. Trevin was a beautiful kid and we all make mistakes, but we all deserve second chances. We're going to fight for justice for him.”

“Everywhere they go, every store they go into, they’re going to see his picture there and be reminded - ‘We’re not forgetting what you did. Whoever you are, we’re not going to forget,’” said Kris Steele, Trevin’s mother.
