Family and friends of Trevin Steele received the worst news possible this week. The 24-year-old man, who was reported missing last week, has been found dead. Police believe his death was a homicide.

According to an RCMP statement released June 5, Steele was found dead June 2 in a home in Flin Flon. Police are seeking suspects in Steele's death and are looking for any information on his whereabouts before his death - RCMP say he was last seen alive May 24 in Creighton. Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services are investigating Steele's death.

Anyone with information on Steele's death and disappearance is asked to contact Flin Flon RCMP at (204) 687-1422 or to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 or at manitobacrimestoppers.ca.

A Manitoba RCMP statement included comments from the Steele family, who described Trevin as a protective and kind man.

"He was a young man of only 24 years. He was polite and well-mannered, fiercely protective of his family and close friends and had a soft, compassionate soul," reads a statement from the family.

"The people who were close to him shared a special bond and those people will carry him in their hearts forever."

Steele's death is the first homicide in Flin Flon in almost two years - the last such death was that of an unidentified 44-year-old man from Denare Beach, who died after being assaulted on Hill Street in July 2022.
