Looking to camp in a provincial park this summer? You’ll have your first chance to book a spot at several Manitoba campgrounds early next week.

As like most years, online booking for Manitoba campsites will be done in phases, each of which will begin at 7 a.m. local time. The first phase will start April 4 and will be for all province-operated cabins, group-use areas and yurts - including the yurts at Bakers Narrows Provincial Park. Phase two starts April 6 and includes reservations at four campgrounds near Winnipeg - Birds Hill, Falcon Beach, Falcon Lakeshore and West Hawk Lake.

Campsites at parks in the province’s northern and western regions can be booked starting April 8, including for parks near Flin Flon like Bakers Narrows, Clearwater Lake, Wekusko Falls and other prominent areas like Asessippi, Duck Mountain, Paint Lake and Spruce Woods.

Phase four starts April 11 and will mainly cover campgrounds in the Whiteshell area in Manitoba’s southeast corner, along with Grand Beach and Nopiming. The final phase, starting April 13, is for areas like Moose Lake, Hecla, Winnipeg Beach, Lundar Beach and all other campgrounds.

This camping season will also bring changes for prospective visitors. For instance, stays in cabins and yurts are now capped at seven nights, instead of 14. Only two reservations per session can be made for cabins, yurts and group-use areas starting this year, instead of the three reservations per session visitors could do in the past. Campers can still book reservations in one session for campsites.

Reservations can be made at the province’s Parks Reservation Service website at prsweb.gov.mb.ca. All prospective campers will need to create and sign into an account to book spots. Reservations can also be made by calling 1-888-482-2267 toll-free, starting at 7 p.m. on the first day of eligibility.
