A donation to the Northern Health Region (NHR) by the Flin Flon Inner Wheel aims to help brighten up a stay in the hospital’s waiting room.
The club donated three framed photographs by local wildlife and landscape photographer Randy Whitbread. The photos were mounted on the brick walls in a waiting room at Flin Flon General Hospital.
Inner Wheel selected three of Whitbread’s photos as donations – one shot of Ross Lake taken from Flinty’s Boardwalk, another at the campground at Bakers Narrows and a third from Rat Creek, located by the Goose River south of Flin Flon. After selection, the club purchased and framed the photos, then donated them to NHR for public display.
The photos are located in the former emergency room waiting area.
“I would imagine that we really wanted artwork that represented our area,” said Inner Wheel president Crystal Kolt.
“We picked Randy particularly because his photos are so evocative. It’s like every time you see one, you kind of go, ‘Oh yeah, I’ve seen that. I would never have put it together in that way, but we’ve seen it before.’ I think he’s just the perfect artist to represent the Flin Flon area,” said Inner Wheel member Elly Spencer.
