With cold and flu season on its way, the Northern Health Region (NHR) has released its list of flu shot clinics for the season.
In Flin Flon, flu shots will take place at the Northminster Memorial United Church, running on a number of dates through November and early December.
The first set of clinics - four separate sessions on Nov. 4, 5, 12 and 20 - will be restricted according to people’s last names. People with last names starting with letters A-D can get a shot from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 4, with last names from E-K able to get their needle Nov. 5 from 12 p.m.-7 p.m. Last names from L-O can receive their immunization from 12 p.m.- 7 p.m. Nov 12, while Nov. 20 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. will be set aside for people from P-Z.
The remaining five sessions - Nov. 21, 27 and 30 and Dec. 1 and 7 - will open to the general public. No appointment will be needed to obtain a shot - walk-ins will be accepted.
Flu shots in Cranberry Portage and Snow Lake will be done at people’s homes. Cranberry Portage residents can get their vaccine Nov. 6, while Snow Lakers will have three days - Nov. 4, 5 and 13 to get theirs. The Snow Lake sessions will require a prior appointment, which can be booked by calling (204) 358-3564.
One session will take place in Sherridon Nov. 2 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at Sherridon Outreach.
Other communities that will host flu shot clinics include Easterville, Fox Lake Cree Nation, Gillam, Grand Rapid, Ilford, Leaf Rapids, Lynn Lake, Moose Lake, Pikwitonei, The Pas, Thicket Portage, Thompson and Wabowden.
