Flin Flon’s COVID-19 testing station has moved down Church Street, going from the R.H. Channing Auditorium to a site at Flin Flon General Hospital.

Anyone seeking to access the testing site is asked by the Northern Health Region (NHR) to use the hospital’s main entrance doors and follow signage inside to the testing area. The original testing site was opened March 17, not long after the pandemic first made its way into Manitoba.

One case of COVID-19 is suspected to have been reported in Flin Flon during the pandemic, in March. No community transmission has been linked to that test. Health officials have not confirmed nor denied details of the original case, citing privacy concerns.

Only three cases of COVID-19 have been reported within the NHR, with none reported in the past three months.

Operations at three COVID-19 testing sites are continuing within the NHR - at the Flin Flon General Hospital, another in Thompson at the Thompson Clinic at Plaza Mall and a third in The Pas at 328 Fischer Avenue. Each of the testing sites is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., closing for an hour at 12 p.m. each day.

Anyone experiencing possible symptoms of COVID-19 is asked to self-assess online using the Shared Health Manitoba online screening tool. Access to tests can be found without a referral. Voluntary testing for asymptomatic people in industries including trucking, health care and other high-risk industries is also available.
