Both Creighton and Flin Flon are organizing spring cleanup campaigns, starting later this month.
In Flin Flon, the spring cleanup will take on two forms - pickups for larger trash and waiving fees for the Flin Flon landfill.
In the first category, pickups will take place from May 24-June 10 throughout town on the same days and routes as typical garbage pick-up. Residents are asked to pile up their garbage items near where they normally leave their trash on pick-up day.
Some types of items will require special care - for instance, residents are asked to keep metal debris separate from the rest of the waste in its own pile and all refrigerators and freezers will have to be tagged for freon removal.
On top of those rules, collection crews will not take away larger items, described by the City as “recyclables, garages, decks or other large structures.”
The landfill will be fee-free from May 20-June 13, open each day barring holidays. The landfill will be open from 9 a.m.-4:45 p.m. each day from Monday to Saturday, then open from noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
The Town of Creighton will be hosting their spring cleanup week from May 24-27, along with free dumping fees at the Creighton landfill this week until May 22. Those fees cover all household waste aside from refrigerators and freezers that have not have all freon removed and for any demolitions more than 120 square feet, which require permits.
Town workers can be booked to assist residents in getting larger waste to the landfill by making a request to the town office - those requests can be made by calling (306) 688-8888.
