Talk about a welcome break.
As the month began to come to a close last week, January was on pace to be a pretty mild and unremarkable winter month.
Unlike the Januarys from 2010 to 2014 – when a dozen snowfall and low-temperature records were set – the 2015 edition was not (as of Thursday) one for the history books.
With average highs below -15 C and average lows mostly in the low to mid -20s, January 2015 was a marked departure from its 2014 predecessor.
January 2014, many will recall, was a snowy, bone-chilling month. Although average highs were about -16, average lows ranged mostly from the late -20s and the -30s to even the early -40s. Brrr!
