Foran Mining Corporation released the results from the final four holes of phase 1 of its resource definition and expansion drill program at McIlvenna Bay.

According to a release from Foran, these holes focused on deeper portions of the deposit at McIlvenna bay in areas that were sparsely drilled in previous campaigns. Intersections of massive sulphide and stockwork style mineralization were found in the holes, one of which returned a thick, high-grade massive sulphide intersection near the downdip edge of the current deposit.

Patrick Soares, president and CEO of Foran said in the release results from this hole indicate that mineralization may extend beyond the drill hole, and as such the McIlvenna Bay deposit may potentially increase in size. He added Foran’s confidence in the validity of the drill data is reinforced by results of the winter drill program.

Foran expects to release an updated mineral resource estimate later this year.

The summer drill program is expected to begin after spring break up and will target areas of the deposit that can be drill tested under summer conditions. Currently, at least 11 holes encompassing 7,000 metres are expected to be drilled during the summer program.
