Damian Dominey has been named the Flin Flon Fire Department’s newest fire lieutenant.
Dominey received the honour during the Nov. 20 Flin Flon city council meeting, with several department members present, including Fire Chief Chad Cooper.
As part of the promotion, Dominey was presented with a new fire lieutenant helmet by Chief Cooper and received an addition to his uniform: a single bar on the epaulet of his shirt.
Cooper gave a short speech congratulating Dominey, detailing the duties of his new post and mentioning the reasons behind the move.
“With that change comes extra responsibilities, leadership and mentoring younger firefighters throughout the department,” said Cooper.
“The member getting promoted tonight has shown extreme dedication, initiative, great work ethic and dedication to the community. Over the last year, he has taken on greater responsibilities with fire prevention work, getting into the schools and educating students on fire safety.”
Dominey also took an oath, pledging “to safeguard and preserve life, health and property against fire and other emergencies, and to maintain proficiency in the fire service.”
