Flin Flon Culture Days 2022 is entering its last stages, with events planned throughout this weekend and next to finish off this year’s plans.

The festival will restart for its final group of events Oct. 8, when three events will take place. City Hall council chambers will be the location for two of those events - first will be Flin Flon 1932: A Plumber’s Eye View from 2 p.m.-3 p.m., followed by Bill Hanson holding an event called “Growing Up in Flin Flon” from 3 p.m.-4 p.m.

The main event of the day will be the Wild Rice Cabaret at the R.H. Channing Auditorium, an annual event including local artists and musicians. Admission to all three events is free - the doors for the cabaret event will open at 7 p.m.

The final events scheduled for Culture Days will happen from Oct. 15-16, including a soapmaking workshop with the Uptown Emporium’s Sophia Charuk Oct. 15 from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. Spots for the workshop will be limited and people wanting to take part can preregister for it by contacting the Uptown Emporium at [email protected] or by calling (204) 687-4913.

The Flin Flon/Creighton and Area SPCA will host the second big event of the weekend, a comedy night at the R.H. Channing Auditorium Oct. 15. Doors for the show open at 8 p.m.

The final scheduled event for Culture Days, according to the initial schedule, is Pictures at an Exhibition. The show, which features musicians including multiinstrumentalist Mark Kolt playing improvised pieces based on pieces of mostly-local artwork, is one of Culture Days’ longest-running events. The show will take place Oct. 16 at the NorVA Centre, starting at 2 p.m.

Further information can be found on the Flin Flon Arts Council website at flinflonartscouncil.ca or by calling (204) 687-5974.
