Creativity took centre stage at the 2015 Creighton Copper Fair Juried Art Show and Farmer’s Market Showcase.

Held at the Creighton Sportex last Friday, Sept. 18 and Saturday, Sept. 19, the event exhibited 81 art pieces from 37 artists, mostly locals.

“Everybody was sure impressed with the artwork,” said organizer Crystal Banting. “They had a hard time deciding on the People’s Choice (award) and I heard comments as they were leaving saying that they were so glad they came.”

The art covered several categories, from painting and photography to traditional culture pieces and ceramic, glass and jewellery.

The event also included a farmer’s market with more than a dozen vendors selling wares such as homemade blankets, woodworks and natural honey.

An estimated 300 to 350 people passed through the doors of the event, organized by Creighton Recreation, Culture and Tourism, where Banting is assistant recreation director.

This marked the first installment of the long-running Copper Fair since 2011, with Banting hoping the event will be held every third year going forward.
