Well the decision has been made! After numerous phone calls and many refusals (Momma Mia and Les Miserables, because SOME people actually think that the Flin Flon community Choir could possibly be a threat to Broadway!), Crystal Kolt, the director, got the "okay" for the choir to do Follies by Stephen Sondheim. The exciting part of this is that Crystal has been in touch with a costuming company in Burbank, California and we are going to be able to rent the actual costumes from the Broadway show of 1994! The choir may do a bit of fundraising to help cover the cost because as you can imagine they will not come cheap. Word is that Dorothy Liss will be doing a "cameo" appearance! Crystal is hoping to recruit some students from Hapnot to do the chorus line. Details are being worked out with the school. We are fortunate to have in the choir such talents as Brad McDougall and Cheryl Anderson who will be able to teach some of us lead-footed people how to ballroom dance. We won't just be in a two week fast learning process, instead the dance classes will go on for months. Rather than, as Crystal put it, "having a gun at your feet", we will have lots of time to get to learn it! First practice is Saturday, September 20, at 11 a.m. at McIsaac School and new members are welcome. The production of Follies will be ready for May 7, 8 and a matinee on the Sunday, May 9. Also, the choir will be having their Cabaret at the end of November. Please watch for details!
