It will likely be after June when Flin Flon’s tourism brand is revealed to the community.

An update on the branding process shows that McKim Communications Group has formed a creative brief for the brand.

“This is the ‘touchstone document’ that McKim uses as they are developing the brand in order to ensure that the goals of the brand are being met, and that it remains an authentic reflection of Flin Flon’s character, personality and strongest assets,” Linda Whitfield, vice president of marketing and communications for Travel Manitoba wrote in an e-mail to stakeholders last week.

Brand champions from Flin Flon reviewed and approved the document, which set the rest of the wheels in motion.

Whitfield said the creative team from McKim will travel to Flin Flon later in May to explore the area’s attributes and attractions. Near the end of June, the brand is expected to be presented to the brand champions. With their feedback, a final version of the brand will be created, along with a toolkit that will help the brand be implemented.

Dozens of stakeholders took part in a place branding session in Flin Flon on February 21, at which point it was thought it would take between six and eight weeks to create and unveil the brand.
