2019 in Flin Flon brought some new faces in high places.

The Flin Flon Fire Department has a new chief in Jason Kuras, a former firefighter-paramedic in Thompson and Wadena, Sask. Kuras started his new job in October. Previous chief Chad Cooper left the department in July for a new position as the deputy chief for the Prince Rupert Fire Department in July.

Another prominent spot in the community changed hands this year within education. After Flin Flon School Division superintendent Constance McLeese retired from her post at the end of the school year, former assistant superintendent Tammy Ballantyne was named as new superintendent.

The City of Flin Flon made a hire of their own, enlisting Nathaniel Boucher as the City’s new public relations and community engagement manager. Boucher will mostly oversee the City’s online presence, including on social media and with the City’s newly unveiled app and website.

Some senior staff also changed for the Flin Flon Public Library, as library administrator Courtney Campbell left the library and was replaced by Elizabeth Andres.
