Flin Flon has once again taken its place as a cultural hub of Manitoba.
Of the 28 communities outside Winnipeg that recently hosted Culture Days events, Flin Flon had the highest attendance with over 6,500 participants.
Flin Flon hosted more than 80 Culture Days events during the weekend of Sept. 26, 27 and 28, including a musical social, children’s games and the ever-popular Dance Down Main Street.
Across Manitoba, roughly 45,000 people took part in events, an increase of more than 5,000 people over last year. The total number of events also rose to 355, up
from 330.
“This year was our biggest and most successful year yet,” said Melissa Courcelles, project manager of Culture Days Manitoba, in a news release.
Courcelles added that “Culture Days is continuing to grow and is becoming a must-see weekend showcasing the diverse artistic and cultural talent within our
province.”
This year’s Culture Days marked five years for the event, as it encouraged the public to celebrate the “arts and cultures in cities and towns in every province and territory in Canada,” read the news release.
Across Canada, more than 7,500 Culture Days events took place in more than 870 communities.
“The initiative has grown by more than 60 per cent since it launched in 2010,” read the release.
