They are so unique they are indescribable.
The Crooked Brothers are a little bit country, a little bit pop, a little bit rock and a lot of fun, according to Crystal Kolt of the Flin Flon Arts Council.
Kolt first saw the Crooked Brothers, a Winnipeg-based group, at the 2013 Manitoba Showcase Contact.
“They were a favourite pick of the Flin Flon Arts Council from the showcase,” said Kolt, pleased to announce they will be at the R.H. Channing Auditorium on Jan. 16.
“They are a very vibrant group that has a lot of everything for everyone.”
The showcase is the same event that Flin Flon will no be hosting in Oct. 2015 to help pick acts for 2016 in Manitoba.
Kolt saw the Crooked Brothers at last year’s showcase and knew she had to have them come to Flin Flon.
“The lead singer has this rumble about him that is just contagious,” she said. “The instruments they play and the variety, the sound is just so unique.
“I don’t know if it’s pop, country, new or Celtic, but it’s a little bit of everything.”
Kolt and the rest of the Arts Council is pleased to welcome the Crooked Brothers to the community and hopes to see lots of seats filled for the one-night performance.
“They were a real crowd pleaser at the showcase,” Kolt remembers. “The Crooked Brothers really stood bright for us.”
Kolt says the Crooked Brothers are “electric, exciting and top notch” entertainment.
Home-grown
The Crooked Brothers are homegrown, according to their own website, and offer crowd-pleasing tunes and instrumental acts throughout their performance.
The trio shares instruments while “captivating the audience,” said Kolt.
The trio performs with mandolins, guitars and banjos all while belting out their own tunes.
The Crooked Brothers will perform at the R.H Channing Auditorium on Jan. 16.
