With more than two weeks before the curtain rises, Ham Sandwich is preparing for its latest stage production in earnest.
The (Almost) Totally True Story of Hansel & Gretel will be the theatre troupe’s fresh take on the familiar fairy tale.
“I think they’ll be ready for when it comes,” said director Alain Lachapelle.
“Everybody’s just doing really good. It’s always nice. They’re all learning their lines well and getting more and more comfortable on stage.”
The (Almost) Totally True Story of Hansel & Gretel will feature local actors of varying ages – 32 of them, to be exact.
A comedic take mixing fairy tale mythologies, the show will be performed on Friday, Nov. 18 and Saturday, Nov. 19 at the RH Channing Auditorium.
“Right now, it’s the time when all the little pieces come together,” said Lachappelle. “At the beginning, we try to focus more on the staging and the actors and the actual flow of the play. Now it’s everything else. It’s getting all the costumes ready, the final touches for that, all our props planned out, coming up with lighting and sound.”
Tickets for the show are on sale at Northern Rainbow’s End.
