A warm March weekend lured locals of all ages out of hibernation for the Bust the Winter Blues Festival.

Creighton recreation director Channa Senyk said the festival’s snowshoe races proved popular with a large turnout. On Friday, the Kinettes’ Trivia Night attracted nearly 160 participants.

Saturday’s Mardi Gras-themed family dance saw a crowd of 150. Elsewhere, 59 riders took part in the Border Explorers’ Frozen Aces Derby, which saw snowmobilers zipping all over the local area to compete for cash prizes.

Other events included the Family Fishing Tournament on Phantom Lake and an afternoon of children’s events in and around the Rotary Wheel.
