Quilts are more than cozy coverings – they are also works of art.
The North Star Quilt Guild is showcasing its members’ best pieces at its Quilt Show this weekend.
“The show is a fun outing. It allows one to view and appreciate the incredible talent we have in our community,” says Sheri McPhee, president of the Guild.
The show will display over 150 quilts to view or purchase. Staff from two out-of-town quilt shops will also be on hand to offer demonstrations throughout the show.
Guild members hope the show will promote quilting in the community.
“Very often we hear from people how they would love to quilt but don’t know how,” says McPhee. “They don’t have time or don’t think they have the skills. Many people have a dusty old sewing machine in a closet that hasn’t been used in ages. Basically, if you can see a straight line, you can quilt.”
The Quilt Show is open from noon to 9 pm today, Friday, and from 10 am to 4 pm tomorrow, Saturday, at the RH Channing Auditorium.
