Marion Slobodian (nee Prokopenko) of Flin Flon passed away Saturday, October 28, 2006 at the Winnipeg Health Science Center. Marion was born on a farm near Kipling, SK, on November 26, 1915 to parents Michael and Katrina Prokopenko. She lived in Flin Flon, Regina, Moose Jaw, Kitchener, Oliver, Kipling, and Cranberry Portage. Marion was married to Metro Slobodian. She was a secretary and bookkeeper and enjoyed fishing and gardening in the summer and bingo in the winter. She was a member of the Ukrainian Catholic and St. Ann's Roman Catholic churches. Marion was predeceased by her husband Metro Slobodian, her parents, and four brothers (Fred, Michael, John and Eli Prokopenko). She is survived by her two sons, Michael Fey of Carman, MB and Fred Fey of Creighton, SK, and six grandchildren: Danny, Kathy, Debbie, Karen, Terry and Wanda. She also had eight great grandchildren: Michelle, Morgan, Judd, Chris, Kourtney, Melissa, Morgan and Brett. Funeral services for Marion were held Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Dadson Funeral Home, Flin Flon, with Lucille Rossington officiating. Active pallbearers were Karen Choptuik, Wanda Williams, Terry Fey, Danny Fey, Kathy Fey and Debbie Wenger. Honourary pallbearers were all of Marion's family and friends. Following interment at Hillside Cemetery, a lunch was served by the Legion Ladies Auxiliary at the Legion Hall. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of one's choice.
