van Nes, Jean: Long time of Flin Flon passed away August 27, 2003 at the Personal Care Home at the age of 85 years with family by her side. Jean was born in Downfield, Scotland on November 18, 1917 to Robert and Jeanie Quarrier. She began her nursing education at the very young age of 15 in Scotland and became a registered nurse and midwife. Jean nursed during WWII where she met and married the love of her life Joe on May 23, 1945 in Ranchi, India. After the war Jean and Joe made Flin Flon their home. Jean continued her nursing career here in Flin Flon which included Tom Creighton's private nurse. In 1982 Jean and Joe retired to Westbank, BC, until Joe's passing in 1999 when Jean returned to Flin Flon where she happily remained until the time of her passing. Jean will be lovingly remembered by her son Bob of Olds, Alberta, daughter Janet (Gary) of Flin Flon, and grandchildren, Jasmine, Josiah, Chris, Terry, Michael and Jenna. Jean will be missed by a great many friends and large extended family. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to The Alzheimer's Society, c/o Fur Keepsakes, 120 Main Street, Flin Flon, Manitoba or to the Flin Flon Personal Care Home, c/o Flin Flon General Hospital, P.O. Box 240, Flin Flon, Manitoba. Dadson Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
