The Reminder, along with the Canadian Press and other media outlets, projects that Conservative incumbent Gary Vidal will win reelection in Desnethé–Missinippi–Churchill River.
With 73 of 156 polls reporting at 10:30 p.m. Flin Flon time, the former mayor of Meadow Lake has secured 63 per cent of the vote, receiving 5,458 votes - more than 4,000 more than the second place candidate, Liberal nominee Buckley Belanger. Vidal was first elected in 2019 and will likely increase his overall vote count and margin of victory.
Vidal will be part of what may be a Saskatchewan sweep by the Conservative party, who are either leading or almost certain victors in all ridings.
That won't help the party much nationally however, as the Liberal party is projected by several media outlets - including The Reminder and the Canadian Press - to have won a minority government. The party is currently slated to walk away with 157 seats nationally, a two seat pickup from before the election.
In northern Manitoba, Niki Ashton is still ahead with 78/157 polls reporting, but the margin is closing up. Ashton is ahead with 3,194 votes - about 39 per cent - while second place candidate Charlotte Larocque, a Conservative, now sits second with 2,387 votes, about 29 per cent of the ballot.
